Andreas
Hauser (39) is a graduate in business economics and tourism management from universities in
Bilbao, Spain, and Munich, Germany. For the past ten years, he has been working as a
management consultant in tourism planning and development on an international
level. His clients includes international donor agencies (e.g.
Worldbank, UNDP, Inter-American Development Bank), public sector clients (e.g. the Governments
of Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Syria, Mexico, Panama, The Bahamas) and private enterprises
(e.g. Expo2000 Hanover, Albert Speer & Partner, ERM, JDURC).
Andreas has successfully led complex and large-scale strategy projects involving conceptual tourism planning on a national basis. In 2001-02, he was project manager for the development of the Tourism Masterplan for the State of Qatar. Together with Thomas Hoefels, also a TEAM Associate, the foundation was laid for the destination's present success story. Even today, the originally devised target objectives in terms of tourism arrivals and hotel capacities for the year 2010 count as benchmarks and are expected to be met in due course.
On a regional scale, he headed the Sustainable Tourism Concept for the Las Perlas Archipelago off the coast of Panama in 2002-03. At that time, it was the first worldwide tourism project under the UN's Global Compact programme. Under Andreas' leadership, the interdisciplinary team of tourism planners and economists, marketing experts, environmental specialists, engineers, transportation planners and social experts managed to successfully balance the diverse interests of local public and private sectors as well as international NGOs and the island population.
During a one-year residency project in Damascus/Syria in 2005-06, Andreas oversaw a series of planning initiatives in the tourism and other economic sectors for the national government. He trained local executives and experts in project management, while at the same time improving planning performance in difficult and complex project stages.
On a regular basis, Andreas conducts training sessions for managers and executives in intercultural competence, geared to the Arab World as well as to Central and South America.
Currently he is advising the Municipality of Jeddah/Saudi Arabia on the development of several top-priority leisure and tourism projects.
At the University of Applied Sciences in Wolfenbüttel, Germany, Andreas has a lecturing assignment in tourism planning and development. Furthermore, he holds university seminars as a guest lecturer on tourism issues in the Middle East and Latin America.
Andreas is currently finishing postgraduate MBA studies in International Management Consulting at the IMC in Ludwigshafen, Germany. As the topic of his masters dissertation, he is investigating intercultural business ethics in management consulting.
Andreas' travels to over 70 countries and work on four continents have given him a deep understanding of the implications of working across cultural barriers and boundaries. As well as his native language German, he speaks fluent English, Spanish and Italian and has knowledge in French, Dutch and Arabic.
