Andrew Lloyd HughesAndrew is a highly experienced tourism marketing professional with over 20 years experience in the industry spanning public, private and academic sectors in UK and Overseas.

He brings a breadth of experience across the spectrum of the tourism industry having worked extensively in tourism marketing, event management and consultancy. Andrew is both a strategist and a practitioner with valuable private sector experience working in the digital marketing agency sector specialising in tourism communications.

During this period he was responsible for delivering the digital element of the Visit Wales luxury tourism campaign known as Wales in Style. He has since developed a particular expertise in destination management and the application of digital media in contemporary destination marketing and interpretation.

A former post graduate tourism lecturer who has gained an excellent reputation in Welsh tourism, Andrew possesses a Masters Degree in Tourism Management with specific experience and knowledge in tourism strategy, destination branding and tourism marketing in particular.

Andrew’s overseas work includes contracts in Holland and Dubai. Closer to home, he has specific expertise and knowledge of Welsh tourism issues and is fully immersed in the development and marketing of the destination at all levels. He was a member of the Wales Digital Tourism Steering Group and is also a tourism operator who successfully built and operated a small self catering agency which he sold in 2009. Andrew is still involved as a tourism operator through Milkwood House, his 5 star luxury self catering product in Swansea.

Previously Andrew headed the Tourism Unit for the City and County of Swansea and more recently in Bridgend County Borough Council. In this latter post, he was responsible for developing and delivering tourism strategy for the County, with overall responsibility for product development, marketing and the creative direction of the destination.

Andrew became a freelance tourism consultant in 2008 mainly working in digital strategy, destination management and marketing for a range of recent clients including Visit Wales, Capital Region Tourism, Mid Wales Tourism, Powys County Council, Bridgend County Borough Council and OutSource Consulting in Dubai.
