Restructuring and Re-engineering of Tourism Organisations

TEAM's senior management have been involved in strategic planning for tourism destinations for many years and have unrivalled experience in the planning, design and implementation of new tourism structures and the business planning of destination operations, in the UK and abroad. We have contributed substantially to the current round of tourism restructuring activity in England, through involvement in the North West, North East, Yorkshire, South West and the East Midlands - through policy review work and planning / implementation for specific destinations. Frequently, our work has embraced the wider context of strategic marketing for economic development and regeneration.

Before setting up TEAM, Managing Director, Roger Carter was responsible for setting up the Edinburgh Tourist Board from 1990 and running it for six years. He then oversaw its transition to a regional organisation (the Edinburgh and Lothians Tourist Board) in 1996. In 1995, he prepared and promoted the plans for a new tourism organisation for Stratford-upon-Avon and Warwick, often regarded as a role model by other DMOs in England.

Since it started in 1997, TEAM has been involved in major restructuring work in Merseyside, Scarborough, Bath & NE Somerset, the City of Cape Town, Cheshire and Warrington, North East England and North Yorkshire. No two solutions have been identical. We have a strong track record of working with local stakeholders to devise innovative solutions that are appropriate to the local circumstances.

In 2004, TEAM completed the first global survey of tourism authorities and organisations for the UNWTO and subsequently helped the UNWTO to organise a follow-up conference on 'New Models for Destination Management and Marketing'.
