Roger is a leading international expert on tourism destination management and marketing.
Following many years working at CEO level for destination management and marketing
organisations (DMOs), he established TEAM Tourism Consulting in 1997.
Graham Barrow Associate (Cheshire, UK)
Graham provides TEAM with specialist experience in heritage and countryside management
and development and in related community involvement matters. He moved into consultancy
after a period of some 13 years as a Director of the national Centre for Environmental
Interpretation (CEI) at Manchester Metropolitan University.
Lynne Burton Associate (London, UK)
Lynne is a leading cultural consultant and project manager with over 30 years senior
management experience of strategic marketing, development and research as well
implementation through direct marketing and promotion.
Abigail Carney Associate (Edinburgh, UK)
Abigail Carney is a consultant, facilitator and trainer in the arts, heritage and culture
sectors working with individuals, managements and boards to develop strategies to build
capacity and audiences. Abigail offers organisational development, business planning,
audience development, marketing and communications.
Gaëlle Connolly Associate (Northumberland, UK)
Gaëlle is a TEAM's researcher and has worked on a variety of UK and international
projects. She also updates a number of websites maintained by TEAM.
Philip Cooke Associate (Gloucester, UK)
Philip is a regeneration marketing specialist, providing strategic and operational
support for a range of national and regional agencies and destinations across
southern England.
Carmel Dennis Associate (Surrey, UK)
Carmel Dennis has worked in travel and tourism for over 20 years at a variety of operational and
management levels. Her particular expertise is in the fields of conferences and business travel,
visitor information services and destination marketing.
Alyson Dombey Associate (London, UK)
Alyson is a leading consultant in e-commerce and travel distribution in Europe. She has worked on
the commercial side of online travel since 1994, specialising in strategic development, e-commerce /
channel management and managing organisational change.
Jackie Ellis Associate (Brighton, UK)
Jackie's main focus is sustainable tourism, industry liaison, communications and
marketing where she has achieved considerable experience. She is a former destination
manager with over 14 years experience of the public sector and developing industry
wide partnerships, as well as having six years of private sector operational
management experience gained in Europe.
Stephen Farrant Associate (London, UK)
Steve has 16 years experience spanning the commercial, public and voluntary sectors. His core skills are
in strategy development, communications, business planning and partnerships. He also has experience in sales,
customer services, revenue management, CRM and branding.
Sue Faulkner Associate (Hampshire, UK)
Sue's key focus is on helping DMOs to maximise e-business opportunities, including
developing e-business strategies and operational plans, advising on sustainable e-business
models and revenue optimisation, project managing practical implementation in liaison with
local stakeholders, providing independent 'spot-check' assessments to review the
effectiveness of local e-business investments, and giving guidance on best practice and
future actions to maximise results. Sue also specialises in securing external funding for
tourism projects; and designing and delivering e-business animation and training workshops
for all levels of industry stakeholder including providing yield management/revenue
optimisation advice to SMEs.
Sue Garland Associate (Cambridgeshire, UK)
Sue has more than 30 years experience working in the tourism destination business. Until 2004, she was
Deputy Chief Executive of the British Tourist Authority, following which she moved into consultancy.
Carolyn George Associate (UK)
Carolyn is an environmental consultant, with considerable experience of designing and undertaking research
across a variety of subjects. She has worked on a range of sustainable tourism projects, from assessing
the impacts of the European Commission's Communication on sustainable tourism to preparing feasibility
studies for local eco-tourism developments. Carolyn has also undertaken a number of studies to value
the impact of tourism and recreation policies and projects, including coastal access and the promotion
of water-based recreation.
Mike Imrie Associate (London, UK)
Mike spent the last 6 years delivering interactive marketing solutions and is specialised in the delivery
of specific business benefits via integrated interactive communications (customer acquisition techniques,
website strategy, customer retention and development through e-CRM).
Mady Keup Associate (France)
Mady specialises in destination and business tourism marketing and has extensive international management
experience gained with the British Tourist Authority (now Visit Britain) and Visit London. Mady speaks 6
European languages fluently.
David MacIntyre Associate (Scotland)
A graduate in Economics from St Andrews University, David has an excellent range of public and private sector
experience, with key skills being as follows: Tourism Strategy; Business Development; Marketing; Design &
Management of Tourism Organisational Structures; Research & Analysis; Workshop Facilitation and Project Feasibility.
Sarah Osborne Associate (Singapore)
For 9 years, Sarah was Tourism Manager for Windsor, UK - a destination with >7million visitors per year,
11,000 tourism jobs and an annual total visitor spend of over US$700million. Since then, she has
consulted on all aspects of destinations at international, national, regional and provincial levels. Sarah
has a Diploma in Management from Henley Management College and is a Member of the Chartered Institute of
Marketing. Now based partly in Asia-Pacific (Singapore) and partly in the UK, Sarah is extending her experiences
to bring international best practice to international clients.
Howard Smith Associate (Cornwall, UK)
Howard's core expertise is helping DMOs re-engineer their business processes,
apply e-business techniques and manage the organisational change process.
Before joining TEAM, Howard worked in business development for 12 years.
Richard Smith Associate (North Yorkshire, UK)
Richard has extensive experience and expertise in a number of areas including
specialist tourism research planning and implementation, strategy development,
and visitor information provision. Prior to joining TEAM, Richard had more than 10
years experience in destination tourism.
Davina Stanford Associate (Lancaster, UK)
Davina is an experienced tourism researcher with a first class undergraduate degree, an MA with distinction in Tourism,
and a PhD in Tourism Management. She has researched a range of topics from visitor management and visitor behaviour to
destination marketing and management, using a mix of qualitative and quantitative methods.
Peter Varlow Associate (East Sussex, UK)
Peter specialises in online marketing and visitor services. Former head of new media at
VisitBritain, he has worked in visitor management, information services, e-commerce, DMS
systems, mobile marketing, branding and market segmentation. He is an experienced TEAM
project manager.
John Vimpany Associate (UK)
John has extensive experience providing consultancy to the international fairs,
exhibitions and events industry and to the heritage tourism sector, undertaking many
assignments in the Middle East and Asia. This experience has been combined with senior
management posts in the UK, including Chief Executive of the Mary Rose Trust and English
Heritage Director for the new Stonehenge visitor centre project.
George Whitfield Associate (Devon, UK)
George is a leading tourism strategist with wide ranging experience including brand
development, destination strategies, new product design, customer understanding and
exceptional communications. During the past 21 years running highly successful consulting
businesses in Canada and the U.K., George's work has focused on a real understanding of
what the customer wants and the spectrum of disciplines, from strategy to execution,
required to meet and satisfy those needs.
