Experience
Allison is a specialist in tourism planning, stakeholder engagement and market research, with exceptional analysis, insights and communications skills. Throughout her career, Allison has consulted with business and government to deliver research, strategy and business development projects, as well as research in the area of urban planning and design and tourism.
Allison’s recent consulting work has focused on delivering co-designed destination management plans with a focus on community stewardship and positive impact tourism at regional and statewide levels in urban, rural and regional parts of Australia. Her passion is for sustainable tourism management and building authentic place brand through experience development.
Allison is currently Chair of the Northern Tasmania Development Corporation – funded by 7 local government authorities to coordinate and oversee regional development initiatives. She is also Deputy Chair of East Coast Tasmania Tourism board, and a Ministerially appointed member of Tasmania’s statutory Parks and Wildlife Advisory Council.
Core skills and qualifications
Allison has a BSc Hons in Geography from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand; a Masters (Applied Science) in Urban and Regional Planning and a PhD in urban design and tourism both from James Cook University in Cairns, Far North Queensland, Australia. She is now an adjunct to the University of Tasmania, Australia.
Allison is also a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
