Tourism development strategy for NE Anatolia, Turkey
Client:
Kudaka, the regional development agency
The challenge:
This was the first tourism strategy for the (newly formed) region of NE Anatolia. It is an area rich in cultural, historic and natural heritage, which also has sophisticated winter sports facilities. It also has the challenge of being a long distance from major Turkish and international markets.
Services provided:
TEAM undertook a review of the region’s assets, involving field investigation of the tourism resources of the region. Following further market analysis, stakeholder workshops and strategic brainstorming sessions, key sections of the strategy were determined.
Outcome:
Following completion of the strategy, a ‘best practice’ study visit to the UK was organised for key players from the region. The strategy was accepted by the Board of the Regional Development Agency as the basis for its long term investment in tourism.
